The Right to Work and Labor Violence in America – FOX’s Steven Crowder Attacked

Written : Dec. 18, 2012

Crowder Beaten

Right to Work is a concept, and in some cases a law - which does not shut down labor unions. In addition, it allows workers the important right to choose whether or not to join a union when working for a company which has a union. Unions, in non Right to Work states require that all employees join their union and they must all pay fees, which they call dues. In Right to Work states, if you don’t care about politics, or support right-wing causes and gained employment, you would not be forced to join your company’s union - no fees charged. These monies, in addition to being used to fund the union, generally are used to support left-wing candidates and causes. I’m not attacking the left here, but it stands to reason that only left-wing employees should contribute to left-wing causes, right?

Most of the liberals I know (most people in general) detest real violence and red-in-the-face haters (ex.: see their Coexist and haters suck bumper stickers, and peace signs). So, even if you support labor unions you must admit that punching someone solves nothing. FOX’s Steven Crowder questioned several protesters at the Dec. 11, 2012 rally in Lansing, MI, asking why they opposed Right to Work in Michigan. In response several cursed at him, openly showing their anger in front of cameras. One of them attacked Crowder, punching him at least once, and one could be heard on a video threatening to shoot him with a gun. The mob tore down a tent belonging to Americans for Prosperity. The most ardent lefties must surely oppose these nasty tactics, but where are they?

The national media searched high and low, but could never find any evidence of violence during peaceful Tea Party protests. Frustrated, they reported false claims of violence and racism against the Tea Partiers, who even cleaned up after themselves at their rallies. However, while reporting the recent Michigan labor protests, the 'major networks' ignored that violence and didn’t say anything about it. Why?

Instead of attempting to heal the nation by speaking out against violence as he did after every national gun violence tragedy since his election, President Obama stirred the labor crowd. One day before Michigan Governor Rick Snyder signed the Right to Work law, making his state the 24th of its kind, our president said, “What they're really talking about is giving you the right to work for less money.” After the signing, Jesse Jackson thought a national one day strike in the midst of this bad economy might be a good idea. Rep. Don Geiss (D-MI) said, “There will be blood.” James P. Hoffa, president of the Teamsters Union, called for a civil war! This type of rhetoric makes people angry and doesn’t unite – it divides Americans.

During the last presidential election, the left gained some ground in national popularity, but it’s losing the grip it once had on workers. It seems that fewer jobs are had when unions enter and negotiate unreasonable wages which companies cannot afford. Workers don’t own the company, and although they are owed a fair wage and good working conditions, they should be grateful for their employment. Remember, workers, if you work for a boss, you didn’t build that!

Have a nice holiday, each and every one of you! God bless, (my atheist friends – take care), and see you next year, on Jan. 8, to be exact!

The Fiscal Cliff – We Have Already Gone Over!

Written : Dec. 11, 2012

Fiscal Cliff4

Sure, it’s important, but aren’t you tired of all the overly dramatic talk on TV about the so called ‘Fiscal Cliff?’ I am. The mainstream media (MSM) is consumed by this topic. They ask, “Will we go over the cliff?” How silly! ‘The cliff’ is really the desire for harmful spending cuts and higher taxes for all Americans to become law on January 1, 2013. This was the ‘agreement’ made by President Obama when he declined to accept the Simpson-Bowles commission’s recommendations for federal fiscal sanity. Automatic spending cuts (sequestration) will go into effect, and people will lose jobs...

We’ve heard this question since the election, “What will it take for Republicans to accept a tax increase?” On the other hand, while the opposite question is rarely asked, I don’t understand why the president, if he indeed wants to fix this nation’s massive debt, insists upon raising taxes on the top 2% of earners. The federal debt is now $16.37 trillion ($16,370 billion). If we tax the wealthy as the president wants, the treasury will receive about $80 billion a year, or only around .005% (five thousandths) of the federal debt. The deficit is how much we fall in one year and that’s around $1 trillion. 8% of a trillion is $80 billion. How does that fix the problem, especially if we do not cut spending and borrowing? Why does our leader refuse to accept a fair offer the Republicans made, which gave him the $800+ billion in revenues he asked for by eliminating tax loopholes (tax breaks for the wealthy) – all without raising taxes?

The Democrats seem willing to stand rigid, no compromise without a tax increase, which will result in higher taxes for everyone, including you. I repeat, this will hurt all of us. Meanwhile, the MSM will have you believe that the Republicans will not compromise with Democrats. That could not be further from the truth. In fact, the Republicans have offered several plans, including a federal budget, passed by the Republican controlled House. The Democratic controlled Senate has refused to pass a federal budget in three years, while the law mandates one be passed every year. The missing budget, the refusal by the current administration to cut spending, the impossibility that soaking the rich to solve the problem won’t work, and a new, proposed stimulus bill, surely show that spending is out-of-control.

CBS news, in this article, calls it a ‘gradual fiscal slope,’ and I agree. I argue that we have already gone over, the question now is: How much further will we go? As I’ve said, the president tells us that we must raise taxes on the top 2%. In fact, I believe that his plan, if the Republicans don’t cave and accept higher taxes on some, is to let all of the tax cuts expire (Bush and payroll), severely cut military spending (can’t be good for our nation’s defense), endure a harmful recession, and blame it all on conservatives. Then he’ll be in a good position to offer a tax decrease for those of us with the lowest 98% of income. This will look especially good after the hidden taxes in Obamacare kick in. Watch and see. Call me out if I’m wrong.

Charles Komanoff and the Carbon Tax, a Part of U.N. Agenda 21 – Liberals Don’t Care About You - Conservatives Do Care About You

Charles Komanoff

Written : Nov. 17, Dec. 4, 2012

The second segment of Washington Journal on Nov. 17, 2012 featured the director of the Carbon Tax Center, guest Charles Komanoff. He proposes raising your taxes even higher than President Obama will. However, Mr. Komanoff assured us that penalties for consuming carbon is a bipartisan issue. He said, “…it’s not a Democratic idea or a Republican idea, it’s not a liberal idea or a conservative idea,” it’s for all of us. And, not to worry, it won’t be imposed on the American public directly, but rather on the producers of carbon-based energy. This will clean up the earth and prevent weather disasters, Mr. Koumanoff claimed. How nice, you might think, until you dig deeper.

Mr. Koumanoff dragged Agenda 21 into his discussion when he said that getting the planet more ‘sustainable’ is the right thing to do. For those who don’t know, Agenda 21, or sustainability theory, is the United Nation’s plan to control our population, climate, and herd world citizens into ‘habitation zones.’ Nice, huh?

He admitted that a carbon tax will, as President Obama once said, increase everyone’s cost for coal, electricity, gasoline and heating oil (“dirty energy,” in Mr. Koumanoff’s words). He’s okay with that because, in his opinion, we must switch over to wind, solar, and all renewable fuels, no matter how much it costs individuals, and regardless of whether the new energy industries are ready. They don’t care. The environmentalists wish to turn the screws until we, the people, suffer.

And, please don’t be upset with the owners of companies. Any business hit with higher taxes will, as is natural, pass the cost on to the consumer, and, in some cases, fire some workers. Why? Well, they take these actions not out of cruelty, but because higher taxes always hurt the bottom line. In order to remain in business they must make these adjustments. The point is to keep people employed, and not break the backs of businesses. Right?

A caller told Mr. Koumanoff that he makes $10 per hour, and in response Mr. Koumanoff incredulously blasted Republicans for their stance against labor unions! He berated the Republicans for their imposition of policies over the last 30 years, “which have increased economic inequality, which have turned high paying union jobs into your $10 an hour probably non-union jobs. We’ve got to turn that around but at the same time we’ve got to protect the climate of this country.” (I thought he said this was a bipartisan issue!) Mr. Koumanoff then claimed, without any proof, that the recent severe storms (Katrina and Sandy) were caused by increased man-made carbon emissions - and not increased photon emissions from the sun! Which side is clinging to some irrational belief and ignoring science?

The higher price of energy (gasoline, for example), affects the poor more than anyone, and they can least afford it. This shows how the left doesn’t care about the little guy, but they do care greatly about their fantastic ideas for creating a utopia they can never achieve. Their governmental programs, centered on a failed War on Poverty, simply made things worse.

Mr. Koumanoff means well, but is yet another environmentalist who knows better than you about your preferences and needs. For example, he said that living in a smaller home is a good way to save energy. The director of the Carbon Tax Center could care less about how you want to live your life. “We could go back to 2,000 square foot homes from 4,000 square foot homes.” So, move out, fool! This is a part of Agenda 21, all incentivized, Mr. Koumanoff admitted, through the carbon tax. His group believes that carbon dioxide, rather than being a requisite chemical we need for our life cycle on earth, is a deadly poison! Fortunately, until Agenda 21 is fully implemented, you can still decide for yourself. Check out Mr. Koumanoff’s web site at carbontax.org.

My Post Election Blues – What America Voted For and What America Voted Against – Part III

Written : Nov. 20, 2012

In 2012, Americans voted against: Two good men, Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, with a fiscally sensible plan for saving the economy, the improvement of a disastrous health care bill, economic and business experience and competence, and a made-up term, Romnesia. Most Americans bought the president’s and mainstream media’s (MSM’s) message which mocked Mitt Romney for his money. There’s nothing wrong with being successful and investing your earnings for future generations. And, there’s nothing funny about it. You, too, would do the same if you acquired wealth.

The Democrats’ competence for getting their class warfare message out, the MSM’s left-wing bias, and Republican mistakes all beat Mitt Romney. I’ve heard it said that liberals used social media and computers while conservatives used lawn signs. Romney’s 47% comment killed his campaign as many thought this was a direct insult to them. This innocent and poorly worded comment, merely about who would not vote for him, was turned into a firestorm by David Korn and the MSM, which repeated it continually, and the gullible public bought it. No more, Republicans! When running for office, you must assume you are on camera every second. You must always think you are being secretly filmed by a leftist radical who will turn the recording over to the MSM for your imminent destruction!

Gov. Bobby Jindal of Louisiana said recently that we must stop being the “stupid party.” Richard Mourdock and Todd Akin said things about rape and abortions which are intolerable, especially in the age of left-wing media bias. This is because their foolish comments, which didn’t belong anywhere near their campaigns in the first place, were twisted and distorted even further by the MSM. Shame on them, they should have known better! And, no one dare try to explain what they really meant - or defend them, either. The question would certainly become, “Are you actually defending Akin or Mourdock? Senator, do you really think there’s such a thing as legitimate rape? Do you think if a woman is raped it’s God’s will? Do ya? Do ya? Really?”

Every time our candidates bring up any religious or ‘different’ beliefs, the seculars attack, and they attack in droves. Candidate Christine O’Donnell was lambasted and made to look foolish for saying years prior that she “dabbled in witchcraft,” and lost her race once the MSM got a hold of the story. Our near-perfect candidates must think about what they say – all the time, every time. This formula is simple: be on the alert for MSM trap questions and turn the answers around. No stupid statements are allowed. Liberals can say outrageous things, but conservatives can’t. They can say the Tea Party is a bunch of extremist racists (with no proof whatsoever) – and get away with it each time, but Rep. Allen West of Florida is not allowed to say there are Communists in the Democratic Party. - Remember ‘the jailer’ in Star Trek’s All Our Yesterdays episode? “There are witches. There are!” He said it while looking around, full of paranoia - just in case... Even I sometimes feel a little like Galileo, who couldn’t say that the earth revolved around the sun, lest the authorities would come after him for blasphemy. This MSM’s senseless intolerance is best described by liberal commentator Andrew Sullivan’s recent statement on one of the Sunday shows, which implies that if you believe in religion over science, you are crazy, out of your mind, a loon, never to be believed due to loss of credibility! Instead, we should all be entitled to our opinions, and most Americans are not nuts.

Conservatives can’t repeat the same missteps again and we have to vet our candidates with a fine-tooth comb. We must maintain the Romney campaigns’ infrastructure and begin to run the 2014 mid-terms and the 2016 presidential campaign now. Without caving, we need to find candidates who can communicate the conservative message. Although I am all for strict adherence to our laws, this is a new reality, folks. Republicans must pivot on immigration and build the technological fence on the border first (it doesn’t need to be a real, physical fence). As Carlos Gutierrez, the 35th U.S. Secretary of Commerce said on Nov. 18, 2012, our party must set forth a sensible plan to reform America’s broken immigration system and then think about strategies for handling and welcoming new citizens. After securing the border, paving the path to citizenship for those already here is crucial. We value their contributions and recognize their importance as citizens. While welcoming new, legal immigrants, making sure that any amnesty deal is a one-time thing is also just as critical. Although conservatives don’t care about race (and liberal America does), we do need to find two competent minority candidates for president and vice president in 2016. I hereby nominate Florida Senator Marco Rubio and Saratoga Springs, Utah mayor Mia Love.

My Post Election Blues – What America Voted For and What America Voted Against – Part II

Written : Nov. 14, 20, 2012

Republicans lost the 2012 presidential election for many reasons, and we continue to dissect, analyze, and synthesize. The conservative plan is better than perceived, more thoughtful than the other side’s, and centers on individual success (hooray for the little guy!). Our candidates need to learn how to tell the people how our ideas benefit them. We need a better way of expressing it. Our message is distorted each day by the mainstream media (MSM) and the other side’s is hailed. Therefore, we must learn to make fewer mistakes.

The MSM attempts to trap our candidates while they loft softball questions to the other guys. Marco Rubio was asked today how old the earth is. They want him to give the biblical answer, “a few thousand years,” and thereby label him a religious fool who will not accept science. When the MSM slams Republican elected representatives with Grover Norquist’s tax pledge and accuse them of stubbornness, they should ask Americans if they want their own taxes raised. I’ll bet that most Americans don’t wish to relinquish more of their hard-earned income, they only want someone else’s burden to increase. Every week the MSM asks, “What’s it gonna take for you guys to compromise?” We should tell them that we’re willing to do so, but history shows that every time we’ve caved in, the Democrats raise taxes and no one ever cuts spending. Our guys should pose questions like this, “Why won’t the other side compromise, and when are the reporters in the MSM ever going to hold them accountable?” MSM reporters revel in asking our candidates to raise their hands to show if any would raise taxes if the Democrats agree to spending cuts. Our candidates should say, “This isn’t grade school, we’re not raising our hands, and that’s an inappropriate question.” Why don’t they ever ask the Democrats the same question in reverse? This past Sunday on This Week, the guest host, Martha Raddatz, said the Republicans were ”digging in their heels” over the fiscal debate. Why say it like that? Why not treat both sides with fairness?

I’m not blaming the election loss solely on the MSM, but that’s a great problem for us. Americans supported President Obama, who said that conservatives cling to their guns and religion – and, if the Republicans bring a knife, he’d bring a gun! He joked he’d send somebody to ‘tear up’ Sean Hannity, but argued for civility from conservatives. You can’t have it both ways, my liberal friends. Remember, too, that the MSM ignored Mr. Obama’s numerous slip-ups and foolish comments, but Mr. Romney’s deliberately misunderstood comment about the 47% - was repeated like an ad – all over the liberal media.

The Democrats would have you believe that Obamacare is a way to cover everyone’s health care expenses, but nothing is ever free. Unfortunately, this unaffordable health care tax burden will cost us all dearly. The devil is in the details, which include incredible fees and surcharges, hidden from you by your MSM. They had to pass it so we could see what’s in it, but mark my words, you will begin to suffer from it in 2013. Recall seeing all the stories about the back room deals made to pass Obamacare? Didn’t see any? Then you’re not watching FOX, and perhaps you should consider changing the channel more often.

My Post Election Blues – What America Voted For and What America Voted Against – Part I

Written : Nov. 12, 2012

Wow, what happened? I was supposed to write about what President-Elect Romney and Vice President-Elect Paul Ryan would do in their first term, but the quick fix through proven conservative methods can’t be put into play. Instead, America re-elected President Obama. Am I frustrated? Yes. Are the Republican Party and the Tea Party dead? No, they will come roaring back. Is the conservative movement defeated? No. Is it time to cry or cringe? No, a week was enough time for that. Instead, our side needs to reflect, understand what happened, and improve our message for next time, the 2014 mid-terms.

I believe Americans voted against Mitt Romney, a good and honorable man, more than they voted for Barack Obama. There’s plenty of unnecessary jealousy out there for rich people, or for those who earn more than we do, and that’s a shame. Wealthy folks provide the opportunity for jobs, and voters fell for rhetoric over logic. This is probably the source of my frustration.

It seems to me that America voted for: isolationism, higher taxes, obstructionism and gridlock, incivility, the blame game, and celebrity over substance. Americans liked the TV advertisement in which a fictitious Paul Ryan pushed granny over the cliff. Another ad featured some old ladies who cursed, and implied they would be quite angry and even riot if Mitt Romney beat the president in a fair election! My fellow citizens seemed to prefer the politics of personal destruction, Obamacare at any cost, a sluggish economy, an ever-increasing federal deficit, an ‘average’ America, a crippled space program, higher unemployment, more entitlements, the Arab world over Israel, selling guns to Mexican gangs, more crushing regulations on businesses (which provide jobs for the people), and a more centralized federal government. There’s more. Americans voted for revenge, the most secretive administration since Richard Nixon’s, less domestic production of oil (including fewer pipelines and a stronger reliance on foreign oil), and President Obama’s fiscal program for improving the economy. His plan includes another stimulus (the first one didn’t work), the hiring of 100,000 teachers and more construction workers. Forcing the invention of alternative fuels through massive amounts of tax dollars doesn’t work, we’ve seen it, but the president wants to try again. These are lofty goals, and it’s a nice dream, but how does all that help our economy right now?

I’m sorry that America bought the president’s message, which, in my opinion, is an empty one. I think the next four years will be harsh and difficult. But I believe the Republicans were dealt a mandate, too. The question is: What happens next? I think the president should lead the House and Senate into bipartisan agreements. Do I believe he can do it? Yes. Do I think he will? No, I don’t, but I wish he would. America deserves strong leadership and needs a large dose at this time in our history. It’s time to step up, Mr. President. Both sides have much to contribute to the solutions, and we’ll compromise if he’s serious about doing the same. I hope the president listens to us, and doesn’t walk out on conservative ideas – this time. I also wish everyone will watch what occurs with unbiased eyes.

The U.S. Presidential Election – November 6, 2012

Written : Nov. 5, 2012

It’s the most important election to date. They say it every four years, but I believe it this time. Who will lead the country from Jan. 20, 2013 until mid-January, 2017, President Obama or Governor Mitt Romney? I hope we know within the week.

I’m a conservative partisan, but I urge you to vote, no matter which candidate you support. If you support neither, please vote for a local candidate – or an amendment. Many Americans fought for this, your right to express your opinion about your leader(s).

Will I make any predictions? Not upon the outcome. However, I do think that if the president wins we’ll get more of the same. This will intensify in 2013 and 2014 and will ease in 2015 and 2016. We’ll see an avalanche of spending; he’ll prop up failing green energy companies with tax dollars which will push the price of gasoline higher. As before, Mr. Obama will increase taxes by fiat, refuse to work with Republicans, and he will restrict domestic drilling further with stronger regulations on oil companies. Obamacare will crush Americans’ standard of living and the economy will continue to stagnate. President Obama and the mainstream media (MSM) will blame the Republicans for his lack of leadership. He’ll appoint one or two left-wing Supreme Court justices and The Tea Party will come back stronger than ever. Their public protests will increase and the MSM will fight them with misrepresentation and falsehoods as never before.

I believe that if Mitt Romney wins we’ll begin to see pro-growth policies (such as tax reforms) which will make small businesses grow and the economy will pop, but the MSM will not give him any credit for this, and instead will claim that President Obama began the recovery. Mr. Romney will work with Democrats, as he did in Massachusetts, and together they’ll revitalize the space program – which will increase the number of jobs and result in vast increases in the rate of technological growth. An emphasis on opening up pipelines, like the Keystone Pipeline, and an increase in drilling on federal lands will reduce the price of gasoline, and the U.S. deficit will begin to decrease. A President Romney will stop Obamacare from hurting Americans and replace it with a more sensible program, one which actually helps people and businesses. He’ll likely appoint one or two conservative Supreme Court justices, but he’ll leave public broadcasting and Roe v. Wade alone. Ann Romney will make a fine first lady, too.

May the best candidate win, but I won’t freak out if my guy doesn’t win. I’ll just work even harder for my cause. We’re Americans, making our country great, striving for a positive tone, personal respect and civility – working together - and finding practical ways to make all of our dreams come true.

U.N. Agenda 21, Sustainable Development - Revealed on Bret Baier’s Behind Obama’s Green Agenda

Written : Oct. 30, 2012

I thought you might want to read about something other than the U.S. presidential election, but next week you might not be so lucky!

When you hear about the United Nation’s Agenda 21, please listen. It’s a concept which sprouted with the rise of the green movement on Earth Day I (April 22, 1970). The simple, altruistic, and harmless idea asked how we should best care for our environment and embrace mother earth. We all buy into this, but, as humans tend to do, many of us over-analyzed and distorted the original intent. Now there are over 20 years of U.N. and other documentation (available on the Internet) on how to mold the planet and push people around to fit an environmental utopian fantasy. With the assumption that global warming is caused by nasty humans, the thought is to herd people into cities (called settlements by the master planners), and slowly strip their property rights away. Set up a system of high-speed rails and eliminate automobiles. Reduce mans’ carbon footprint by decreasing the human population (but, how?)! Tear down the developed nations’ wealth (likely some of this belongs to you, my reader) and re-distribute it to poorer nations. The proponents want to educate students in the public schools to align future generations with awareness of what they call sustainability. My father said once that Communism in America would be possible if we only would “educate the masses.” Anything is possible, I suppose, when people either don’t think for themselves, or they are brainwashed.

If you don’t believe me, please Google the phenomenon yourself. Don’t use quotes and do include your town, state, the numbers 2020 and 2035, RTP/SCS, and the word sustainability. An example might be: 2035 2020 sustainability plan RTP/SCS Long Island, NY. You’re looking for what they call sustainability plans, a general plan or strategy for the future of your area, sustainable communities, or a transportation or rail plan. If nothing appears in the results, substitute the names of several large cities in your state, instead of your town. You will be amazed! Investigate. Read the plan. Follow the links. Warning: You might be busy for a very long time.

FOX News, the only station capable of producing an honest report on this subject, did so recently. Bret Baier, a news correspondent, hosted such a show, called Behind Obama’s Green Agenda. And, there’s a book I’ve already written about called Behind the Green Mask: U.N. Agenda 21, by Rosa Koire, so the broadcast caught my eye. Baier’s show, already on You Tube, was only broadcast a scant number of times, but you should know about it. (The segment I refer to in the link I provided above begins around the 21st minute (21:22), so slide the bar to the right to match this time.) It reveals one college education program which sought to alienate students from American culture, defining racism as only possible by whites. This curriculum taught that our society is based upon white supremacy. My concern, and that of others, is that this has nothing to do with the environment – as originally intended. It is, instead, a political, Marxist agenda, being taught under the guise of open-mindedness. Although this course terminated due to protests, other universities may be incorporating efforts which push political agendas like it.

Feel free to write in (comment on this blog post) and let me know what you think, and what you find out! Please do not comment without Googling…

API’s Rayola Dougher on an All-of-the-Above Energy Policy and How Energy Policy Affects the Oil Industry, the Markets, and the Price of Gasoline at the Pump

Written : Oct.20 and 23, 2012

Robb Harleston is a co-host of the Washington Journal on CSPAN. On October 20, 2012, he introduced his guest, Rayola Dougher, American Petroleum Institute’s Senior Economic Adviser. He then asked her to speak about energy and how it’s being addressed in the presidential campaigns. She answered, “Both candidates are looking at all-of-the-above strategy, but you have to do more than just say you’re for all-of-the-above. You actually have to follow through with some action. …Production on federal land has fallen off and a lot of this has to do with policy. …Lease sales are down 76% [on-shore] since 2008, 72% off-shore.”

To clarify her remarks, and to address the president’s comments about oil companies deliberately not drilling after accepting federal leases (during the second presidential debate), Ms. Dougher said that no one obtains a lease with the intent of doing nothing. There may be technical reasons why a company might not be drilling, so she said that President Obama is correct when he said that some leases sit idle, but his sense of why it’s so is incorrect.

I’ll let Rayola Dougher’s comments speak for themselves. She said, “You need a policy that’s actually going to support the development of American resources, and we really haven’t seen that. What we have seen is a strong emphasis on wind, solar, and geo-thermal, and some of those renewables. And, they’re going to be an important part of the energy mix moving forward. Instead, we see policy that’s calling for punitive new taxes, for example, on the oil industry. That’s not going to get us more energy. I think it’s very destructive to have a policy that pits one resource against another. Either you have this resource or you have the other… We have 87% of our offshore areas off-limits to development. That’s not supportive to domestic development.”

She said that if we open up new areas to development, for example, “we might be able to get another million, million and a half barrels a day in the market within a decade. …You build the Keystone Pipeline, that’s another 800,000 barrels a day in North America…”

”The difference that [new development] could make in terms of putting downward pressure on the global price of crude oil… as well as a million or more jobs it could create, the $128 billion in government revenue, and the energy. Between crude… and bio fuels, in a dozen years, if we have a policy that says, ’let’s go for this,’ we could be fairly self-sufficient in our needs.”

”Policy has a cumulative impact and each and every decision starts to add up. And, it can add up over years and make a big difference in terms of what we can see in the market. The biggest difference that we’re suffering from is the lost potential. What we could have in the market and what we don’t have in the market, so we don’t want to see any further loss in that potential.”

A Simple Economic Argument – Lowering Taxes Increases Government Revenue

Written : Oct.16, 2012

My financially unsuccessful, left-wing radical father once recommended the book, How to Make Friends and Influence People, by Dale Carnegie. I once read, Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. Both men suggested that only a small percentage of people will succeed in becoming financially independent, or wealthy. The reason, I believe, is risk-taking. Neither my father nor I took many substantial risks with our money and neither of us became rich. That’s just the way it is. Even Melissa Harris-Perry, a liberal MSNBC host, recently admitted that more money in lower-income people’s hands means they will spend more. She unwittingly agreed with conservatives that when that happens, the economy grows. Poor people stay poor not because they are oppressed by the rich businessman, but because they don’t save their extra money, most don’t have a plan for success, they don’t become rich, they spend it all. Why can’t they accept it?

When you speak to some liberals they say that trickle-down economics never worked. They’ll tell you that they don’t want to return to the policies of Reagan and Bush, so they’re voting for President Obama. But, what are they trying to tell us? They mean that those policies didn’t make them any richer. They miss the point. No president’s agenda will accomplish that goal. They need to make it happen, themselves. If the president took all the money the wealthy have and gave it all to the poor, they’d stay poor.

The left also misunderstands the ‘widen the base’ argument on taxes. They should think a little bit deeper. For example, it’s easy to think that if you raise taxes, income to the government increases. The converse principle seems just as likely. If you lower taxes, revenue to the government - you would think - should decrease. In reality, though, it doesn’t work that way. Raising taxes places a burden on businesses, and they react by not hiring – or by firing workers. Dropping tax rates help businesses to decide to hire because they become less stressed. If tens or even hundreds of thousands of people start paying taxes, the government takes in more money. This concept is not difficult, and it’s only a tad harder to understand than the ‘up is higher, down is lower’ idea. However, for some reason, many people can’t, or refuse to see it. Perhaps we need to explain conservative principles to them from time to time…

CPAC 2012 - in Denver, Colorado on Oct. 4, 2012 - Mitt Romney's Surprise Appearance!

Written : Oct.09, 2012

This summer I realized I wanted to attend the Conservative Political Action Committee (CPAC) for 2013, to be held in Washington, D.C., in March. So, I checked out the web and discovered a local version of CPAC, to be held in Denver on October 4, 2012! I signed up. After all, I have a completed manuscript to publish.

I breezed through the sign-in process and noticed the schedule of top-notch speakers to appear later in the morning. I recognized most of the names. My admission gained me access to the main section, and because I arrived so early I figured I’d sit in the nearly empty front row. Immersed in enjoyable conversation with a fellow conservative, the time for speakers arrived before I realized it. After some formalities and a brief introduction, Al Cardenas, Chairman of the American Conservative Union, appeared and gave a fine speech.

Sen. John Thune (SD) followed Cardenas, then Sen. Orrin Hatch (UT), and Rep. Jason Chaffetz (UT) gave short speeches. How nice to see these prominent conservative leaders, right in front of me. Sen. Marco Rubio burst out onto the stage with youthful vigor and enthusiasm. No worries, my liberal friends, not a mean word did we hear. No name calling, just positive ideas and encouragement. The camera well in front of us filled up with photographers. Sen. Rubio is quite popular, I thought. A friend then suggested that our candidate would be next. But, wait, he’s not on the program…

Someone introduced Mitt Romney’s four sons. Hmmm, that’s odd. And then one of them began speaking about the knock-out his father delivered the night before - in the first presidential debate of 2012. He said, “There are five brothers, but one of them couldn’t make it here. So, we thought we’d bring this guy along instead.” Yes, Governor Romney himself made his way out onto the stage! The crowd went wild… and, there he was, right in front of me, closer than fifteen feet. Similar to his debate performance, this presidential man made his case once again. We need to elect him.

After the Mitt Romney appearance, I listened to some more speakers, heard a panel or two, and then made my way out to the rest of the conference. What a wonderful thing, to be amongst like-minded people. I had the honor of meeting many people, some famous, some not so much, and spoke to a few about my memoir. The friendships I made there can last a lifetime. And, maybe, just maybe my manuscript will finally get published…

In the coming weeks I may write more about this CPAC; I have videos to post. In the meantime, we have a Vice-Presidential debate to watch. No predictions, but I’m hopeful that Rep. Ryan will win by side-stepping Vice President Biden’s attacks and by presenting the prosperous Romney vision for America. Every time our candidates get the chance to offer our concepts without the negative filter of the Mainstream Media, we gain ground. When the spin, sarcasm, and mocking are shut down, people understand conservative principles, take them seriously, and generally agree with them.
