Rutgers University May Prevent a Black Woman from Speaking at Commencement (Is this Racist?)

Research for this post was found on FoxNews.com AND on HuffingtonPost.com.

It pains me to slap racial labels on anyone as I feel we must strive to be a post-racial America, but Condoleezza (Condi) Rice served this nation as its first black female U.S. Secretary of State. Yes, and Rutgers University is thinking about disinviting her from speaking at their commencement ceremony, May 18! As hard as it is to believe, their “New Brunswick Faculty Council” passed a resolution which asks the board of governors to take back its invitation to Ms. Rice to speak there, in Piscataway, N.J.

Several radical faculty members of the university disagree with her politics. They say she’s a bad role model for students. The fact that a black woman (Condi) can ascend to one of the highest positions in government qualifies her as a role model for everyone, doesn’t it? I call their refusal to let her speak "ideological bigotry." It’s fascism at its best, silencing the other side, not allowing freedom of thought and open debate.

In 2006, when Rice spoke at Boston College, many students and faculty protested her appearance with signs and showed disrespect by turning their backs on her as she spoke. Shame on them. In America we should show respect for all, but not the Neo-Left. They only show respect for those with whom they agree. For example, if we slip once, and call President Obama “Obama,” those on the left protest, and say we are being disrespectful.

Using the illogic of progressive radicals, one must sarcastically ask, “Is this racism from the left?” It’s not, but I revel in the hypocrisy. If a university did the same for Susan Rice (also a black woman, no relation to Condi), who serves the Obama Administration as National Security Advisor, it would also not be racist, but the mainstream media would scream racism from the highest yardarm, and probably call for the firings to begin. Al Sharpton and the race-baiters would exclaim something like, “There they go again!” Where’s Jesse Jackson’s rainbow coalition now? The left says they stand up for all minorities. Well, not all members of the minority community, I suppose.

 Speech! Speech!
Speech! Speech!

No defense, no, not for a sharp, conservative thinker, like Condi Rice. Oh, no. The free-speech deniers will likely have their way. No open minds at Rutgers, no! Free-thinking is not allowed there. Students must only be exposed to progressive thinking, lest they actually understand conservative thought. And that frightens them. A lot.

Quiz: Q.) What happened when a black person was forcibly denied entry to an American university in 1963? A.) President John F. Kennedy federalized the Alabama National Guard and ordered Gov. George Wallace (D-AL), to stop blocking the entrance, and allow the black students to enter.
