Let the Experts Do Their Job

Written : Feb. 17, and 23, 2010

Those who subverted Islam hate us. They yearn to overthrow our government some day. Aspiring to emerge as fascist American royalty, they use a twisted version of the old, and widely respected religion to justify their takeover. The game is this: they plot to hit U.S. targets while we defend our turf. We have to learn to read their playbook in order to stop them. However, playing defense alone won’t be enough. They are not just our adversaries - they are our sworn enemies. We mustn’t let them score, even once!

You’ve heard the debates about their determination and level of organization. We argue over the amount of force required for us to halt their attacks. They would murder you and your children while we sleep - for not obeying their rigid Sharia Law. The truth is, they have decapitated and sadistically tortured Americans, from Daniel Pearl to Nick Berg. They don’t just single us out, any citizen of the world could be their target. But, we behave better. We won’t do what they do; we treat prisoners much more humanely and we follow rules for captured enemies. What must we do to protect our relatives? How far would you go to save your family if their lives depended upon it?

Marc Thiessen, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institute, has written a book, “Courting Disaster”. According to Marc, we already have pieces of their plan, bits of intelligence, dots if you will. How do these dots fit together to form a coherent picture? Who knows what the entire picture looks like? Who understands the whole plan? The senior leaders of Al Qaeda do. What we must do is interrogate them. I, for one, don’t know how, do you? Thiessen does. An aide to a former president, he said we need to return to the CIA interrogation plan discarded by the Obama administration as it took office.

Expert interrogators have told Marc Thiessen that those who want to kill you also want to feel like martyrs. Professionals know how to make them feel they’ve suffered for their cause without physically hurting them. In addition, these trained people can extract valuable information from the haters while still being humane. All American workers obey rules at their places of employment. We let teachers, firemen, and servicemen do their jobs and we try not to interfere. Don’t let the Christiane Amanpour’s of the world scare you into incorrectly thinking we torture, you and yours might wake up dead. Instead, we should let the experts protect us because they know how it should be done.

News Items You May Have Missed

Written : Feb. 16, 2010

Global warming scientists are now admitting there has been no statistical planetary warming since 1995! Just google “Global warming scientists admit” to believe it… John Brennan, President Obama’s counter-terrorism advisor has stated that the 20% return to terrorism by detainees is “not that bad”! But, remember, it only takes one strike… Sarah Palin, chastised for writing on her hand by many, now has company. I admit, this is not important and writing on one’s hand doesn’t diminish anyone in any way. However, I must tell you Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) was also pictured holding an inky hand up while giving a speech in 1990. President Obama’s press secretary Robert Gibbs, mocked Palin in a childish way. He revealed a grocery list he had written on his hand and imitated Palin’s speech pattern and accent at a recent news conference. As Alfred E. Newman, of Mad Magazine often said, “Big Deal!”

Nathan Myhrvold, now in the business of developing new technologies, has announced he has an idea to save the planet. Picture this: he wants to attach long hoses to floating balloons, which would eventually reach the stratosphere. The hoses would then pump liquid sulphur dioxide, of acid rain fame, into the atmosphere to shield the earth from the sun’s rays… I don’t know about you, but I’m cold enough this winter! ... You thought you heard the end of the “Indian Names” debate, but, no! State Senator Suzanne Williams (D-CO) of Aurora wants state high schools to get approval before continuing to use names which evoke the thought of native American Indians, like “The Chiefs”, for example. She doesn’t want to ban the names but said she doesn’t want them to be thought of as caricatures, either. There must be more important issues to debate…

The College Cost Reduction act, written by Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL), was signed into law by the president. It allows student loans to be forgiven if the student opts for public service jobs. The shocker for me was that this law was signed by President Bush, and not President Obama! In fact, Bush “43” signed two similar bills into law in 2007 and 2008. President Bush was not as partisan as many would try to make you believe. Both offer taxpayer-paid benefits. The bills benefit students, and there are limits, but this signals even more debt for the U.S…

A student in Staten Island, NY, was almost suspended for bringing a two-inch plastic Lego gun to school! The 9-year-old boy was sent to the principal’s office and threatened with suspension! The principal said she was just following the no tolerance policy. Educators seem to possess no common sense these days. Several years ago, my own daughter was removed from a class and sent home one September 11th for wearing a tee shirt with an American flag. What are we becoming when we attempt to teach these “values” to youngsters?

One Remarkable Woman

Written : Feb. 9, 2010

Like Elizabeth Edwards, Hillary Clinton, Dina Matos (McGreevey), Silda Spitzer, and others before her, Jenny Sanford endured a public sex scandal involving her famous husband. Unlike the others, who appeared in public with their husbands, she didn’t attend Gov. Mark Sanford’s (R-SC) news conference last year, when he admitted he had an affair with a reporter from Argentina. After trying to make her marriage work, Jenny Sanford finally booted the Governor out of the family home. Jenny wrote a book, a memoir detailing the affair entitled, “Staying True”. She’s now making the rounds on TV. Barbara Walters interviewed Mrs. Sanford on the Feb. 5, 2010 edition of 20/20, the ABC news magazine show.

Jenny Sanford is not your typical whiner or weeper. She held her head high - while withstanding multiple attempts by Walters to get her to bash her soon-to-be former husband. Jenny Sanford is someone to be admired. She kept her composure while saying she’s seeking a divorce, and was correct to blame Mark Sanford for making the choices he made. She wished he hadn’t made them, but he did.

I expected Barbara Walters to give a few feminist “atta-girls” to Sanford, but to my surprise she took a more conservative tack. Walters unfairly and repeatedly chastised Jenny for not “standing by her man”. But I think Jenny was right to stay away from the governor’s news conference, don’t you? One can imagine how hard it is for anyone to withstand a spouse’s affair, but she told her story while showing she still respects Mark Sanford. She certainly earned my respect!

When Walters asked why she’s filing for divorce, Jenny said, ”I decided I needed to remain strong … and be the best I could be for our children and that Mark needs to resolve a lot of his issues on his own.” This is the epitome of a strong, liberated woman; one with her own mind, but for some reason Walters ignored the fact. She turned instead to a Democratic strategist, Bob Schrum, for commentary. – But, why? - Schrum naturally was quite critical of the South Carolina governor. I also wondered why Barbara Walters, with a pained look, asked if Jenny wanted to know if Mark is still seeing his mistress. Jenny Sanford honestly said she didn’t want to know. Walters, obviously frustrated, asked, “Why not?” Jenny explained with grace she just wants to move on. Who wouldn’t?

A Success Story

Written : Feb. 2, 2010

Charles Payne was the star, but Black conservatives were the focus on Glenn Beck’s Jan. 10, 2010 special, “Time to Be Heard”. This was a unique look at a unique subject. Try as you may, you won’t see anything like that on CNN! Recorded before an audience of Blacks who see themselves as conservative, it began with Payne showing Beck where he grew up in Harlem, in New York City. Payne, who can be seen on various FOX networks, said things have improved since he lived there, but described decrepit conditions where his mother, two brothers, and he lived. His brothers and he “shared a room”. Poverty was comfortable for many, but Charles wanted out. He longed to be a business man.

Charles Payne wanted to own a briefcase when he was little. One Christmas, his mom provided one in the form of a present. “When I opened it up, there was a calculator in there, too”, Payne told Beck. His glee was short lived, as you can imagine. The briefcase was left in a classroom one day, and Payne said, “I come back and it’s cracked open…it just blew me away because my mother worked so hard. I worked hard.” Payne was beaten for wanting to excel; beaten for “talking white”, as Beck put it. Payne said he was picked on for “being different.”

There are two ways of looking at Payne’s early situation. Either you want a father, or father-like figure to step in and fix everything for Charles and force it to be better – or, you want Charles to tough it out, do the best he can; succeed on his own merits. Beck likened it to a situation where there are two brothers. One is a hard worker and succeeds, while the other doesn’t. Their father keeps taking from the successful brother and transfers it to the other. “What does it teach?”, Glenn asked. With a second question he answered, “…at some point, don't both brothers give up?” One because it’s all taken away, the other because he doesn’t have to work. Beck calmly connected this thought with the government providing for middle class people while taking from the successful in our society.

Lisa Fritch, a talk show host herself said, “What socialism does is it kills the spirit of the individual, your right to dream, your right to say, ‘This is who I am!’ And so, now, we are being challenged with speaking out and saying, ‘I'm going to fight for my right to have a briefcase. I'm going to fight for my right to be a chef. I don't want to be a rapper. I don't want to be a football player. My dream might be...’" So, think about your dreams and future successes. No one should ever tell you what they should be - or ever take them away from you!
